Microsoft has agreed to grant a special license for every unlicensed copy of window running on it’s PC (thought to be 50,000) the settlement equates to 55p per copy of windows.

Microsoft has done this as part of an agreement with the government to crack down on piracy of its software.

The measures agreed will mean that will begin to raid internet cafes and shut down and fine those without licenses.

Many internet cafes are thinking of either shutting down or switching to Linux (as they can’t afford Microsoft’s [outrageous] license fees.

Windows XP currently sells for £120 for the Home Version or £200 for the pro version. The pirate copies sell for between 30p and £2
