Hi all, I’m back from my weekend of fun on the Clare Farm Development Weekend, hosted by EWB and RedR.
The weekend was very instructive and informative, if rather gruelling (the Saturday ran from 7am until 10pm). We were taught lots about basic construction techniques including roof tresseles, making mud bricks, and basic surveying. (for a while I’d thought that the non-engeneering pair was going to win the competition on the latter, but sadly, it wasn’t to be :) ). And when I got home at 6:15pm on Sunday I fell fast asleep within an hour!
Of course, I missed the start because of the naval cocktail party. This is rather sad as the standard of the course was really world class and I can see that I would have learn even more on the course. The Cocktail event itself was alright. Lots of important people with large hats…

I also had good news this morning: Girton have decided to give me a Travel Award to help me with my forthcoming summer plans. This makes things a lot easier financially, so I’m very pleased indeed.
Other news, my bestfriend has gone AWOL to enjoy May week with her boyfriend (alright for some!) and I think she’s slightly mad at me for going away immediately after her exams finished…. such is life.
I’ve put new photos in the galleries for:
- the cocktail party
- the development weekend (the best/most appropriate 40 images from about 100 :-P )
- Macro Images
- Nature Images
