Pretty Pics and 404s

I’m going to be working on the website backend scripts this afternoon, so don’t be too shocked if you hit a few 404s. In particular I plan to take the gallery down while I try out a “proper” package.

I think it’s probably time to say goodbye to the home-grown script that’s been handling my photo-viewing needs for the past two years. I know I’m a bit of a sell out for doing this, but at the end of the day it doesn’t look as if I’ll ever get around to fixing the bugs and adding features to my script and should vastly improve the usability of the site (and stop my Google hits finding nasty 404s -> never worked out why that happens).

Also, I’m considering moving my static content into WordPress pages and finding some way to integrate some of the script features into WordPress. The reason for this is I’d like to be able to use the web interface to make changes, I have reservations, however, as I’ve always liked getting dirty with the HTML and I’m not sure how indulgent WordPress will be to this.

Once all of this has been done I’m thinking of overhauling the layout, I’m actually considering wiping it out and starting again (probably the only way I’m ever going to fix those damn CSS bugs!)

Ok, big plans, let’s see how it goes…
