We all enjoy finding new music to listen to, right? The downer is that radio, at least in the , is heavily geared towards giving airtime to only the hottest new and chic tracks. If you have taste that goes even a little bit outside the mainstream then you're not gonna get on well with many radio stations.

There's always the and digital music downloads of course, but finding new tracks can be a pain unless you know what you're looking for and spending time searching or downloading can leave you feeling frustrated even with fast net connections.

A friend recently introduced me to the solution: Pandora radio, and wow is it good!

Employing the Music Genone Project this free app is stunningly good and achieves everything it sets out to do. Simply set up a new 'station' (based on a song or artist you alreayd like) and the app searchees the music genome project to find songs you like and refines your preferences over time.

You can either use the app as a standalone radio player, accessible on any computer once you have registered (free) or you can use it to help target your downloads.

No more hearing a great new track only to miss the DJ's announcement and be left unsure of what it is - I remember when I was having a cheesy moment with an ex-gf and KC's paradise came on the radio, took us so damn long to find out what it was.

As you'll see many of the artists and tracks you turn up, despite being damn good, are not at all common and it might not be as easy as you think to find them in file format. Of course, it might be very easy to simply type the new songs/artists/albums into a P2P app but I wouldn't know as this would be a naughty/evil/immoral and would probably lead to accusations of supporting organised-crime/terrorists/fluffy-pink-bunnies; in any case it would be illegal so I couldn't possibly condone such activities.

Go check it out already… !
